Home > Ceramics - table & oven

Portugal is a country filled with world class ceramicists. A century ago clay found in the soil was free for the potter's taking, traditions were developed around terra cotta and earthenware production. At first function was primary, the intrinsic beauty of thoughtful handmade work visible in each piece. Over time hand decoration combined with functionality; tableware was introduced along side roasters, basins, and wine urns.

In the north comes the Barro Negro; distinctive black pottery ideal for high temperature roasting. From the Alentejo heralds our terra cotta, each piece hand thrown and hand glazed in the faience style typical of the region.

Over 20 years we have worked closely with three families, watching skill and style passed on. The exquisite work and high standard of quality a family pride.

All pieces are oven and microwave safe. We recommend hand washing for best affect.
