Cork, the exterior bark of the Quercus Suber Oak, is a renewable material. This outer most layer of the tree is harvested by hand every 9 years. Cork's favorable attributes: anti-bacterial (food safe), non-absorbent, stain resistant, and heat tolerant. Our cork products come from the vast groves of the Alentejo region of Portugal. We are proud to have worked with multiple generations of the Caeiro family since the late 90's in the procurement and production of our cork pieces, they have always emphasized utilizing the natural curves and exterior of the bark to create unique pieces, wasting nothing.
